Drug and Alcohol related death statistics are higher than previous generations. . .
. . . yet we have never had more support groups, social schemes, campaign awareness programmes, medical assistance or general information on the dangers of drug and alcohol abuse so what is the answer?
ONE SIMPLE ANSWER. . .
"The Little Letter, which is the World's Biggest Problem"
To find the answer to any 'effect', we must find the 'cause'. It will seem too simple to most readers to bring this weighty topic down to one simple answer, but this is the crux of the problem: counselling and research on this subject has been made far too complex, for the issue of drug or alcohol abuse begins, and ends, with one simple cause. . . SIN!
Pairing back this one simple cause even further, we find right at the centre of the word 'sin' the little letter, which is the world's biggest problem: 'I' – me.
We are living in, and indeed we have nurtured an 'I'/'me' culture. Whether Russia, China, the USA or South Africa, we are living in a 'one-world-culture' which is the oldest culture on earth: the 'I'/me culture. Call it hedonism or liberalism; call it selfishness or self-centredness; call it what you will, at the root of substance abuse is the one who gives permission to be abused: self. No addict has become so by being 'force-fed'.
There is only ONE who can deliver from sin and self, and His name is Jesus.
There is only ONE WAY to be free from drugs and drink, and that is to repent and believe on the Lord Jesus Christ. To 'repent' means to 'turn away.'
And for those who scoff such simplicity . . . " 2Corinthians 11:3 "But I fear, lest by any means, as the serpent beguiled Eve through his subtilty, so your minds should be corrupted from the simplicity that is in Christ."
